Bila Solar Announces New Domestic Content PV Modules Manufactured in Indiana

Indianapolis – January 16, 2025Bila Solar, a U.S.-based solar panel manufacturer, has expanded its product portfolio to include conventional 550W glass and aluminum frame photovoltaic (PV) modules featuring domestically produced solar cells.

Production of the new modules will begin in May at Bila Solar’s state-of-the-art facility in Indianapolis. The modules enable solar developers across the United States to qualify for the ITC’s 10% domestic content bonus credit, particularly for ground-mount projects like fixed-tilt and carport solar applications. It also ensures compliance with federal requirements under the Build America Buy America Act (BABA).

Bila Solar, known for its innovative approach to solar technology, recently repurposed a former Eli Lilly factory in Indianapolis to produce its patented ultra-lightweight BF-520J Ultralight PV Module. This module reduces system weight by up to 70%, unlocking new rooftop solar opportunities. Now, the company is setting a new industry standard by introducing high-efficiency dual-glass modules incorporating U.S.-made solar cells.

“Bila Solar is dedicated to strengthening America’s clean energy independence by building a resilient domestic solar supply chain,” said Mick McDaniel, General Manager at Bila Solar. “Our commitment begins with domestic solar cells but extends far beyond. Through strategic partnerships, we are expanding the use of U.S.-sourced materials in our manufacturing, reinforcing our support for American jobs and the growth of the industry.”

Innovation is at the core of Bila Solar’s mission, and the company is among the first U.S. manufacturers to offer domestic cell modules in its products. Limited quantities of these modules will be available as early as June, reinforcing Bila Solar’s leadership in advancing renewable energy solutions. Additionally, Bila’s groundbreaking ultralight 520W glass-free solar panel—designed for versatility in commercial rooftop installations—further showcases its commitment to expanding its portfolio with cutting-edge, high-performance solutions.

Bila Solar’s diverse product lineup includes the BF Series ultrathin and semi-flexible modules, the DF Series with an integrated backrail for mechanical fixing and the AA Series bifacial glass-glass modules. These innovative designs leverage advanced polymer materials to offer significant advantages, including a lower carbon footprint, substantial weight reduction without sacrificing performance, high light transmission with low glare, and a hydrophobic surface that repels water. Additionally, the DF-520J features Class II double insulation, eliminating the need for equipment grounding while achieving a Class A fire rating when installed following the user’s manual.
